Mo̠n Ntow Ner (/mo̠n/ /ntow/ [tall] [sand; dirt; dust]) is a subtropical Town located in Smëgumrëchyzlo̠t Parish, Moko̠ë Empire, within the Warrenese Shogunate.

The name Mo̠n Ntow Ner is derived from the Wood Elvish language, as Mo̠n Ntow Ner was founded by Fyesê Cheineruth, who was culturaly Wood Elven.

Climate

Mo̠n Ntow Ner has a yearly average temperature of 14°C (57°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 27°C (80°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 2°C (35°F). Overview

Mo̠n Ntow Ner was founded durring the late 11th century, by Fyesê Cheineruth. The establishment of Mo̠n Ntow Ner suffered from many setbacks, delays, and obsticles, most notably a group of Mo̠n Ntow Ner which required millitary assistance exterminate before the community could finish being built.

Mo̠n Ntow Ner was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the late 11th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Mo̠n Ntow Ner is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Mo̠n Ntow Ner is buildings are located arround a single narrow packed earth mainstreet which forms a clockwise spiral to give the town a over all circular shape. The town resides behind a palisade wall complete with battlments, a moat, and timber gatehouses with drawbridges. The town's robustly designed timber walls are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the towns defences.

A look around Mo̠n Ntow Ner has something terribly wrong with it. It’s impossible to put one’s finger on, but something is horribly wrong. Maybe it’s the way fog blankets the ground, but only in the connors of places. Maybe it’s the vermin scutteling between shadows in the corner of your eyes. Perhaps it’s the overcast sky which seemed to creep out of nowhere, or the distant howling of wolves. Maybe it’s all of those things together, or perhaps it's the way these elements combine with the abundance of schools, libraries, and other academic structures. Locals can be overheard having academic discussions, as well as talking about scholarly subjects in general. It’s quite clear the town places a lot of value on education and being a learned individual. Regardless, you do not feel it would be wise to remain in Mo̠n Ntow Ner long.

Mo̠n Ntow Ner has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

One or more crime bosses have a powerful influence within Mo̠n Ntow Ner. They may control crime within the community itself, or they may use it simply as a safe haven from which to direct their minions elsewhere. Local law enforcement may know all about them, but lack the strength to confront them and their paid or intimidated henchmen.

Mo̠n Ntow Ner's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by dynamic designs and complex architectural plan forms; intended to heighten feelings of motion and sensuality, and frequently based on the oval. It made extensive and extreme use of: Grandeur, Contrast, Curves and twists, Rich surface treatments, Gilded statuary, Bright colors, Vividly painted ceilings, Fragmented or deliberately incomplete elements, Large-scale frescoes, Dramatic central projections on an external facade, the use of plaster, stucco, or marble finishing, Illusory effects such as trompe l’oeil, and pear-shaped domes. While beloved by the nobility, the common folk tended to despise the style due to the massive consumption of resources required for even a small building constructed in this style.

In Mo̠n Ntow Ner during thunderstorms, with each flash of lightning, everyone sees different monsters from the corner of their eyes.

The Thorn Dog near Mo̠n Ntow Ner are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Mo̠n Ntow Ner's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves sacrificing an animal to channel Conjuration energies of tier 3 via chanting.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century, Mo̠n Ntow Ner was attacked by soldiers from another nation, waging a greater campaign. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Mo̠n Ntow Ner lost 134 people, 271 livestock, and 51 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 61, when members of Mo̠n Ntow Ner's militia enacted an operation to defend a particular special forces group from enemy attack. The operation was complicated by a trusted officer who turned traitor and defects. The conflict ended with the defense of the fortification against a siege, which ended in victory for Mo̠n Ntow Ner's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Mo̠n Ntow Ner's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
